This tip conditioner is very versatile.  It allows you to clean and resize the often problematic male PC connector that is used on all sorts of flash gear.  It is made of tool steel and is about 1.25 inches long and 3 ⁄ 8 inch in diameter.

Conditioning is basically a two-step process and only involves the male PC connector, which is typically the connector that causes most problems.

The inner center conductor is straightened and cleaned by pushing the end with the protrusion over the center connector and rotating the conditioner back and forth about 20 degrees for a few cycles.  Then the outer conductor is pushed into one of the five different-sized holes to slightly reduce the diameter of this connector, so it will be tight.  There are five different holes to accommodate various wall thicknesses of different brands of PC cords.  Sometimes a gentle back and forth rotation of the conditioner is helpful as you are pushing in on the connector.

FlashZebra.com reviewed all of the commonly available models before deciding to sell this particular tip conditioner.  Other models have only one hole to resize the outer connector, so they may work with some PC tips, but not others.  This unit has five different hole diameters, so it is far more likely to have the perfect hole diameter for resizing your PC terminal.  Also, some PC tip conditioners do not have the feature to clean and straighten the center contact on the male PC connector.

The only drawback FlashZebra.com found with this conditioner is that it is not chrome plated.  In severe climates there may be a bit of rust formation.  But, if the conditioner is kept in the relatively hospitable confines of a camera bag, this should not be a significant issue.
